Gower Elementary is located in the Bellevue community of Nashville, Tennessee. Gower is part of Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) and serves students from Pre-K through 5th grade. Gower PTO was founded in 2010 by Jennifer Smith and Amy Frogge, and for over a decade has brought together parents, teachers, and staff to support our school.
What started as a small group of parents looking for a way to give back has grown into an organization that touches nearly every part of the Gower experience, from the playground our kids play on to the technology in their classrooms. Over the years our community has grown, and the PTO has grown right along with it — but the mission has stayed exactly the same: bring families and staff together to make Gower the best it can be for every student.
What We’ve Helped Make Possible
The Gower PTO is a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers, and every dollar we raise goes directly back into our school. We support Gower from a financial perspective and from a resource standpoint — from building a new playground and keeping up with its ongoing maintenance, to buying iPads and classroom technology, to purchasing school instruments. Throughout the year we also organize events like Gator Gallop, movie nights, and holiday markets, run the Spirit Store, and support teacher appreciation efforts, all with the goal of closing the financial gap and giving our children a rich and rewarding experience at school. None of this would be possible without the Bellevue/West Nashville community showing up year after year.
How We’re Run
Gower PTO is led by a small volunteer board, elected each year. The board oversees fundraising, events, and how funds are spent, making those decisions so that resources go where Gower needs them most. To do that well, we work closely with both the school administration and our teachers — it really does take a village, and that’s what the PTO is here for: helping grow our children and supporting them along the way.
Get Involved
There’s no cost or formal process to join the Gower PTO — every Gower parent, guardian, and teacher is automatically a member, and anyone is welcome to attend a meeting, ask questions, or pitch in. Please consider volunteering, too: without our volunteers, Gower PTO would not be successful, and no contribution is too small, whether that’s an hour at an event or a seat on the board. Visit our Get Involved page for ways to pitch in, or see our Our Team page to find out who’s leading this year.
